CAROLINE ATTIA FOR MCDONALDS CHAMPIONS OF PLAY

The London Olympics start in a month but McDonalds began their own Olympics earlier this month with Champions of Play, a global program designed around the Olympics. It's intended to promote kids' wellness by encouraging physical activity and healthy nutrition. Our illustrator, Caroline Attia, created all the art for both the print and interactive aspects of the campaign. She created delightful, whimsical backgrounds incorporating international landmarks, and much of the art is on the Champions of Play web site.  Caroline also designed a 14 page accordion piece to go with 70 million Happy Meals.

DAHL TAYLOR KICKS THE SUMMER OFF RIGHT

We take pride in the strong relationships we build with our clients, so it gives us great pleasure to share a sampling of the work we’ve recently done with our good friends at Boston Beer. Their in-house creative team has transformed the package design for some of the USA’s finest domestic brews, and we feel extremely fortunate to be a part of the collaboration.

Boston Beer has produced a limited edition Samuel Adams IPA Hop-logy variety pack containing an assortment of beers adorned with labels illustrated by Dahl Taylor. For Dahl, this mix pack is the culmination of an ongoing project and it was exciting to see how well the labels coordinate. Dahl combines his eclectic style, a dash of humor and exceptional drawing skills, giving each bottle the appearance of a relic. Coincidentally, the case for the pack was hand-drawn in chalk by Bernard Maisner, an artist from our affiliate, Gerald & Cullen Rapp.

MICHAEL CRAMPTON INSPIRES A HEALTHIER SNACK-TIME

Warning: If you weren't hungry for a yummy snack before arriving at this post... you're about to be. Murray Brand Communications hired Michael Crampton to create a whimsical package illustration for a new Granola Snack product. The background needed to evoke the Oregon Willamette Valley countryside and stylistically it had to appear fresh, unique, and organic in texture.
"To maximize brand awareness and quickly communicate a message of "delicious and healthy on-the-go snacking", Murray Brand Communications designed Willamette Valley Granola Company's new product packaging with an emphasis on whimsical outdoor illustrations and a vibrant color palette. This design strategy serves to create a visual buzz at retail, brand block the competition and quickly draw the consumer's attention to a new product offering. The result is a visual signature that not only creates exceptional brand awareness on shelf but also intuitively conveys the brand's essence of friendly, portable, all natural, and uniquely delicious."

DAHL TAYLOR PUTS HIS IMPERIAL DESIGN ON THE SHELVES-- JUST IN TIME FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

All design, images & names are trademark & copyright: Boston Beer Company, Inc.

"I was asked to do the renderings for this new series of labels by a very talented designer, Matt Moffatt at Boston Beer. He incorporated them into these elegant, fresh designs. These finally arrived at the local beverage center. I did see digital images before but it is still a thrill to have the actual packaging in hand, to say nothing of the fine product inside!"

HOW ECHO CHERNIK CREATED A BEAUTIFUL CHOCOLATE-INSPIRED PORTRAIT

Article by: Digital Arts staff

Art Noveau-inspired illustrator Echo Chernik has recently completed a portrait of Tara Cadmus, owner of New York luxury chocolate shop Oh Pour L'Amour Du Chocolat. It's now hanging as a 36-inch framed print in the store, as well as being used on posters, tags and stickers.

"I had a vision of a beautiful art nouveau woman, standing with her hip perched impossibly far out," says Echo. "She wears gold decorative belts, to which is attached a steampunk-inspired tray bearing chocolates. I've been sketching a lot of chandelier designs lately, and decided to incorporate this into the tray.  The joy about such a piece is the 'suspension of disbelief' which comes along with enjoying the image. Of course, if she were to move or stand upright, the tray would tumble.  I love this 'living statuary' effect to the woman."
